In Japan, I loved walking to class. From the station, it was an eighteen-minute walk to the gakuin. That is, if I were walking fast. I was often fascinated by the speed at which the Japanese walked. Even old ladies with bent backs walked faster than I did. I took time walking because I looked at things. Perhaps from a gaijin's point of view, everything didn't at all look mundane.
